  • Original composition for chamber ensemble

    Hi everyone,

here is an original composition for a chamber ensemble (fl, cl, vln, vla, vlc, pf, perc) I rendered with VSL SE+, VSL Tamtams & Gongs, and Pianoteq's Model B:

I have also created a video with the score if anyone's interested:

All and any critique is welcome and appreciated.

  • wow this is amazing, You create incredible textures that I wouldnt think would be possible with this ensemble. Very innovative harmonies too and pleasant sounding at the same time!

    Cheers

  • Thank you for the kind words, Anand.

  • Hi Stan,

Quite an achievement. A truly interesting work with so much variation and sonic surprises. You've used the SE library to its full extent. The piece keeps one listening because the next passage is always unexpected and totally different. A thrilling experience! The Pianoteq piano is nice, but to my taste a little hard. But that's merely my observation and probably you were after that typical sound.

Congratulations with the most interesting chamber piece!

    Jos

  • On second hearing of the entire piece I reiterate...this is a fabulous piece of chamber music.

I am myself trying to write string quartets but still stuck in the 19th century. I admire how you are able to think 'out of the box' and create new music for 13 minutes and with such a small ensemble. Great job!

  • Hi Jos,

    thank you very much!

As for the piano... Yes, I'm not quite set on it myself. This is the smaller Model B, not a concert grand. Pianoteq does have some nice ones like Grotrian, Blüthener or the most recent Model D. Perhaps, I ought to try those out. But thank you for your observation, it will keep me on my toes about the piano sound. ;) Still needs more work.

  • Well, Anand,

quite honestly, I did not expect such praise for the piece. Feel very humbled right about now. Thank you again.

  • Definitely more than an interesting piece of music, Stan.

    I was caught in a time-suspended feeling.
