  • Reconnecting glitch

    Hi all,

VE Pro is glitching out when I connect it to a new session.  If I force quit, it works fine, and as long as I save as for each new session in logic and keep it open, it pretty much works.  Force quitting ve pro allows me to keep the kontakt instruments loaded in the memory server, and saves me a bunch of time.

    My setup:

I'm running VE Pro on an old mac pro with 2 x 2.26 quad core processor with 64 gbs of memory.  I'm using a separate instance of ve pro for each kontakt instrument (about 50) so I have maximum flexibility with mixing.  My DAW is logic pro X 10.3.2 running on a mac mini with 16 gbs of memory.  My ve pro template has 22 gbs of kontakt instruments.

I'm connecting the two computers directly via an ethernet cable, and have wifi off (and every application closed except for activity monitor) on the slave computer.

Any ideas on how to fix this, or what the isue is? Is my template too big for that computer?  Do I need to host fewer ve pro instances?

    Thanks!

  • Ok, so upon further investigation my CPU usage was shooting up to 1000% during playback, and was hovering at 100% when idle. Going to abandon the one instance per instrument technique and try the vsl template they make for logic.

  • Essentially just talking to myself here, but after much frustration I was able to get the template up and running. I saved new multis for all my different Kontakt instruments, and made a new template. It got stuck and wouldn’t load the samples, so after no less than 15 restarts, force quits, etc. I turned off the Kontakt memory server, and now everything seems to be running well. We shall see over the next few days if this fixes my CPU/glitch issue
