  • Vienna Ensemble, Vienna play pro - wont start missing .dll file

    Hi all,

Something is going wrong - possibly after I did the latest Windows update today. Vienna ensemble won't start, same for VI pro standalone. Sibelius 7.5 won't start  - I've never had so many missing dll file messages in one hour!

It's saying that reinstalling may fix the problem. I'll try and see what happens.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

    thanks,

    Steve

  • even worse - when I tried to reinstall them I saw two messages .

"The code execution canno proceed because MSVCP140.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

"The code execution cannot proceed because VSRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem"

anybody else have a similar message. I'm wondering if it has to do with the latest Windows 10 update I installed today.

thanks for any possible answers here.

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Did you try a restart yet? We have no similar reports here right now...

  • Hi Paul,

yes, I did a restart - but it didn't solve it, but good news, I got my pc to take me back to an earlier build of Windows 10 [I was very worried files would disappear], and Sibelius, Vienna Instruments and V Ensemble all work now in Sibelius and Cubase.

I did a reinstall of Vienna Instruments Pro and Vienna Ensemble, and checked that these still were able to load and play in Cubase, and they did with no more missing .dll problems.

The only thing I cannot get working now is Vienna Pro standalone. It keeps crashing on me when I start it, but at least I can get it going in Sibelius and Cubase.

I don't know what on earth caused the missing .dll files, but I think I 'll stick with this particular past Windows 10 version for a while.

Thanks for getting back to me Paul. I'll do another restart and check if the standalone version will work after reinstalling it again.

    best,

    Steve :-)

  • Hi Steve,

    Hooray for backups!!

That's strange... could it be that the location of your assigned VST plug-in folders were lost in some way?
You can always use Vienna Ensemble as a Standalone version and insert VI PRO there...

  • Hi Steve,
you can try to reinstall the "Visual Studio C++ Redistributable 2015"
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48145

It should reinstall and register the missing dll's

    Hi Paul and Bbelius,

thanks for your input and help. Yes, a million trillion Hooray's for back ups!!👍

My east-west Play would not work either, but they sent me a message saying that this sometimes happens after a windows update and they gave me a link -  as you did for the Visual C++ etc file.

I did have a major panic - one of those "What on earth is going wrong now!!??" moments when all my different music softwares would not start up -  Sibelius, East West, VSL. I was up till 12.30 am in the morning trying to sort it out.

thanks again for your input guys,

    much appreciated.
