  • Finale and Synchron?

Hi! At the moment I'm using Finale 25 and VSL Special edition together with VEP. Thinking of upgrading to the full libraries. Is Synchron an option when it comes to finale? Will I be able to use it in VEP too as I am now, or do I need other programs to get it into finale? My dream is to keep current settings, programs etc but load Synchron strings instead of SE strings etc. Thoughts on this upgrade? Stick with Vienna original or go for the new Synchron? Best, Jonas

  • Hello Jonas!

The Synchron Strings can be used with Finale just like all our other instrument collections. It can be loaded in Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Ensemble Pro as well. Please note that there's a difference between the Special Edition volumes and our instrument collections as far as articulation changes in Finale is concerned. The Special Edition Human Playback Preferences only work with the Special Edition volumes 1 to 4. For the instrument collections you can add keyswitches and MIDI CC commands with help of the keyswitch dump file that can be downloaded in the MyVSL area under Notation Related.

  • OK, thanks, Andi!

When is comes to using the full libraries in Finale, can I programme the Human Playback in Finale myself to work just as the Special Edition works? More or less performing staccato, legato tenuto, tremolos etc? I realise it's gonna take a few hours, but is that an option? The Keyswitches are good, but it feels like a time consuming way to get a descent demo from Finale...

  • Hi Jonas!

The Finale Human Playback system offers only a few articulations. That's why it's not possible to make comprehensive settings for our instrument collections. You could make settings for some articulations like legato, staccato and pizzicato though and trigger the rest with keyswitches.

  • After setting up all the available articulations in HP Preferences, you'll want to create Custom Text for other items. This will allow you  to send both a keyswitch and CC in one operation, where as with the dump file you'd need to enter one for each.
