  • External midi control for VE Pro6

I'm trying to play instruments in VEPro6 directly from a keyboard - not via a DAW.

I can't figure out how to do it though.

There is a tab in prefs which allows you to select external midi inputs, and all my controllers are listed - about 10 or 12 of them.

but even if I check all or any - I don't get any midi getting through to VEPro. No flashing indicators, either on the VEPro GUI or the VI itself - nothing.

In the main VEP instrument channel GUI I can see either a pulldown which goes from a list of midi ports to external, but I simply cannot get the midi to get through. I thought selecting All/All I'd see something blinking - but no.

It all works absolutely fine when connected as server to my DAW, but close the DAW (cubase in my case) and try to control directly, I can't do it. I can only assume I'm missing something really silly.

[NB: My reason for wanting to do this is to troubleshoot some Kontakt audio issues I have.]

  • Hi Richard,

Just checking: Are you using the STANDALONE version of VE PRO 6 for this?

    Best,

  • That's the answer!

Didn't even think to look for that.

    Thanks
