  • Viewing VEP (running on a PC) from an iMac.

I recently bought a PC slave to use with my iMac. I have everything mostly working, but there is one glitch I haven't been able to work around:

If I boot the PC with a monitor attached, I can connect via VNC from the iMac, start VEP, and everything works fine. And if I boot the PC without a monitor, it still mostly works. The mixer window and the instrument window seem to be fine (although I haven't tested them extensively). However, the MIR window is weird. The right-hand strip with the detailed controls seems to be correct and responsive. But the map of the stage and instruments that should occupy the main window doesn't appear at all. Instead, an image of the mixer or instrument window remains (whichever I was viewing previously). The image is not operational --- the controls don't respond to keyboard or mouse.

The Windows machine is running Windows 10. The iMac is running the latest High Sierra. I've tried both TightVNC and RealVNC, with identical results.

Has anyone else encountered anything like this? Any hints as to how to fix it?

  • I have pretty much the same setup although I'm still on Sierra, but I doubt that would be an issue.  I have my second monitor going directly into the iMac and use Microsoft's Remote Desktop to view the Windows side.  It works perfectly and I can show any combination of operating systems on both screens with the control and arrow keys on the iMac.
