  • Vienna Instruments pro stand-alone crashes every time I start it

    Hi all,

I'm having trouble  - V.Inst pro standalone crashes every time I start it. It works fine in non-standalone mode when I use it in Cubase, but by itself, no. I've updated it and also updated the latest e-licencer, all to no avail.

Not sure what to do next. I've had the problem for quite a while, but thought I would leave it. Now I've done the latest vi pro software installer, plus e-licencer, it still crashes when I start it by itself.

anyone else having or have had a similar problem, or any ideas to get this working?

    thanks,

    Steve :-)

  • Hello,

same problem here. VI Pro 2.4.15962 worked well, VST and Standalone. The new Version 2.4.16779 works as VST, but chrashes in Standalone mode. Executing in Admin-Mode does not help.

Workaround for me: Installed the old version and wait for a fix.

Using actual Win10 Pro, latest Updates installed.

  • Hi Alex,

glad you were able to solve your problem. I won't risk that with myself though, I'm using vi pro player for important project, and I'm worried I may tempt fate and cause something to go wrong when loading up my instruments using a previous version.

But I'm glad you were able to find a solution. I just can't work out what is causing it to crash, when the vi player works well in all the other non-standalone modes.

Well, maybe it will be fixed with the next version.

    thanks,

    Steve :-)

  • It if helps to get a fix sooner, I just downloaded and installed my first VSL instrument and am having the same problem.  I've never used VSL products before and decided to give it a try.  I'll hold off my final judgement of this company for a little while (maybe my timing was just unbelievavly bad).  Is this typical of products released by VSL?

  • Hi,

Looks like Vienna Instruments are rather rarely used as standalone versions, and are a bit picky when it comes to audio drivers.  On windows, the classic www.asio4all.com is a great way to check (VI relies on ASIO drivers).

In any case: A quick workaround is to use the included Vienna Ensemble Standalone and access multiple Vienna Instruments in this host. Or use VI/VE in your sequencer directly (99% of our users will do it that way).

Our development is fully focussed on the new Synchron Player right now, so I'm afraid I cannot promise a quick fix there.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I remember you sending me the link to this asio software, and I finally got around to trying this. I downloaded and installed the software. I then started up Vienna Instruments Pro Stand-alone, and it did not crash at all this time. It opened perfectly well.

Your solution was just the one I needed.

    thank you Paul. :-)

    best,

    Steve :-)

  • Hello,

it's an rather old thread, but I am afraid I have to reopen it.

The problem still exists two years after it was posted the first time. What's the problem? Synchron Player was released quite a while ago... Starting VI Pro, it crashes without any messages - reading licenses, scanning libraries, opening the main window, this stays pure white for a fraction of a second, after that - nothing, VI Pro vanishes from my desktop.

My system configuration (not complete, but related hard- and software): AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Radeon RX 560, Windows 10 Pro x64, RME Fireface (ASIO), Avira Antivirus, Windows Firewall, AKAI MPC261 (ASIO), Cubase 7 (ASIO), Dorico, Finale, Sibelius, Waves Central. Kontakt 5, Soundforge, K-Lite Mega Pack, Media Monkey, VLC, MuseScore, Complete Classical Collection (Best Service), Garritan Concert & Marching Band, Tapspace VDL, Sonivox EightyEight, Some NI Free Stuff - any known issues?

The last Version of VI Pro Standalone working with my machine is 2.4.16399.

    Any clues?

    Thank you!

    Best regards

    Wolfram

EDIT: Just read about ASIO4ALL, will try that and be back if the problem still consists.

  • Okay, that was fast.

I knew ASIO4ALL quite a long time and could not imagine it would help, having installed Steinberg, AKAI and RME stuff. But it really did it! Amazing!

VI Pro, newest version, starts like a charm.

Why does it not work with all these other ASIO stuff???

    Hi Wolfram,

The VI Pro version you are using is from 2017 - not sure why it wouldn't work with current ASIO drivers, but the best solution is to use VI Pro in your sequencer or in Vienna Ensemble (free) or Vienna Ensemble Pro.

    Best,
