    Hello all!

    I have a strange problem mostly related to Logic Pro 10.4.

    I've been working on a score in Sibelius connected to VEP 6 (server). I 've been doing this on the road with my MacBook Pro - 13'' late 2016 - 3,3 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16GB ram. I'm using a fairly large template in VEP with Woodwinds, Dimension Brass, Dimension Strings, Appassionata Strings, Choir and Synchron Precussion. The VEP is set up to load all cells disabled. The needed cells then come to life on midi activity from Sibelius. This all works very well.

    I then decided to take the score to Logic Pro10.4 for further tweaking, so I exported a midi-file from Sibelius and imported into Logic. This also works very nicely.

    What doesn't work is that Logic causes the CPU to peak at 98-100% on certain passages in the score. The playback stutters with dropouts and digital distortion. This is described in the manual as a natural phenomenon during heavy CPU load.

    I'm wondering why the same midi information plays nicely from Sibelius to VEP, with a CPU load of 25-30%, and then from Logic Pro it causes this CPU maxout (98-100%)?

    Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

    I attach a picture of my Audio Settings. Is that the settings you meant?

    I'm on the road right now and I use the Mac's own soundcard, but usually I have a MOTU Audio Express for my mobile rig.

    The I/O buffer size is very small, you can put it to 256, 512 oe 1024

    Yes, thank you very much! This helps playback a bit, but the CPU load in VEP still goes up to 100% for no particular reason (as far as I can tell)

    Thanks Cyril! I fiddled a bit with the preallocated voices, maximum voices and different settings in the Vienna Instruments audio engine.

    Together with your suggestion of increasing the I/O buffer I got it running again. Now I can continue to work. :) I put the buffer at 1024.
