  • Does the full strings in Appassionata have Spiccato?

I just have the standard version yet, and I noticed it does not have spiccatos, which I miss.

They are included in each section of the full version, but it doesn't say on this website if it's also in the full strings patch. I admit I "cheat" sometimes and use the full string patch, but don't tell anyone :)

  • Hello McArnes,

I'm a bit confused... we did not record dedicated spiccato for the Appassionata Strings...

EDIT: Haha, I totally overlooked the Performance Spiccato Repetitions that are contained in the Standard Library of Appassionata Strings I => please check unter "13 Perf Repetition".

    Sorry for the mis-information!

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thanks,

Yes, I found them in the section patches, but not in the full string patch. So I wonder if the full string patch has spiccato in the full version?

  • Hi,

No spiccato in the full strings patch, I'm afraid.

    Hi Paul & VSL Development,

It would be super wonderful if you plan to produce a new Synchron Appassionata Strings Library, plus a Synchron Appssionata Strings Sodino Version.  With more articulations than the original, and more dynamic layers. It will be an instant buy for me.  Actually ... I will pre-order it now if you announced it  ðŸ˜‰

    Thanks for listening.

    Cheers,

I would do that with Synchron Solo Strings. Even if it takes several years.

  • Can a spiccato patch be created, with Vienna Instruments Pro, by time-compressing the staccato patch? Do you find results to be satisfactory?

I personally do not like the results very much. It can produce an acceptable staccatissimo effect, but not spiccato. I'd stick to the performance spiccato patch. Appassionata Strings have one. Synchron Strings do not, which really bothers me.

These are short samples and the point where it starts to sound unnatural and obviously manipulated is quickly reached. But more importantly, an edited or time-compressed staccato will never sound like spiccato because the bowing is different. You just can't make the sample sound as if the note was performed with an off-bouncing bow if it wasn't played that way.
