I wanted to dedicate a demo to synchron pizz, I quickly wrote this piece.

Not the greatest composition in the world, but fun to do every now and then.

    Spring Pizzicato

    -synchron strings

    -synchron percussion

    -WW (synchron stage)

    -Triple horn

  • Hi Guy,

How pecularly lovely! It's been freezingly cold over here in Flanders lately, so Spring isn't yet at the horizon. Your piece with some clear winks to existing pieces comes in heart warming and frolicking. Hopefully Spring will come soon now and make our heart sing the same optimistic way. As a pizz demo, it's more than succeeded. Bravissimo. Some nice images could make it even more shine!

    Thanks for sharing,

    Jos

  • Thank you Jos!

It's pretty cold where I am as well, although spring is March 20th, that's today actually, so we'll soon see nature's rejuvenation. Glad you enjoyed the demo and atmosphere.

  • Hello Guy,

I thought your piece absolutly wonderful.  I love the intricate articulation of the instruments and the overall quality of the audio recording.  Obviously you have invested a great deal of your talent into this piece.  Very well done.

I am new to the VSL and also new to composing in general.  I played drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and percussion in rock bands for many years, but my secret love for classical and orchestral music, and to be able to compose and record it, was not satisfied until I stumbled across the VSL program.  I am 62 now and unfortunately beginning to lose my hearing (Probably the rock bands).  But while I can, I'm going to continue to compose and simply have fun with the VSL.

Once again, a lovely piece of music.

    Take care.

    John Minardi

  • Hi Guy, that's absolutely wonderful! Francesco

  • Really lovely work. You get an absolutely gorgeous sound out of the Synchron Strings! I am always impressed by your creativity.

  • Thanks a lot guys!

John, hope you have fun with VSL, so much to explore.

  • That is pretty amazing, Guy! I am curious, how much of this do you manually play in on midi keyboard vs programming?

    Thanks Carl!

All done manually, however a few sections were copy/pasted and then made adjstments.

  • Hey Guy -- around the 2:04 mark in this, there is a very fast Harp gliss. Was that a run sample, or did you somehow do a gliss on your keyboard that fast? (I maybe should not be surprised considering you play tons of Chopin on piano.)

    Such great stuff.

    -Carl.

Yeah, interesting question. If the natural harp gliss I'm looking for is not available I just play a gliss on the piano with the timing I want and then add the appropriate accidentals, move up or down the notes I don't want making repetition notes for other notes which is very idiomatic of the instrument, and it sounds credible. Pretty simple.

  • Oh well... once you know that it's Guy you know that it probably will sound better than what oneself would ever achieve ;)

Quality in every detail. Love the pizzicato and trianlge working. Dynamics is also off the hook. Simply Beautiful.
