  • CFX - Differences between Close 1 (Schoeps MK 4) and the Close 2 (Royer SF-24)?

No demos I can find yet, so can anyone tell me what would be the main differences between the; Close 1 (Schoeps MK 4) And the Close 2 (Royer SF-24) Thx Mike

    Hi Mike,

We have posted a quick description of all microphones on the Yamaha CFX product page. Scroll down a bit!

  • One is close, the other is a little closer, so there are some color and percussive differences as far as I can tell.

  • Also, if you are trying to decide between the standard or full versions, you gotta go with the full.  The surround, high surround, and high stereo mics are absolutely remarkable.  (I've had cool results when you turn off/reduce the runtime delay and use no close mics.)

Best way is not text description, but sound examples. I see only comparison between presets.. Is there comparison between close mic 1 and close mic 2? Potential buyers want to compare ingredients (e.g. tomato variety) rather than ready-made mixed salads..

Could anybody, who have a full library, upload same example, played by only close 1 and close 2 mics for compare? (also Mid 1 and Mid2?) I'm not understand, why only presets comparing placed on VSL site.. Why to mix close mic with a room mix? - a close mic already exist in the room mix.. - it is a way to have a phase problems..
