  • VEP on one PC with two Hard drives

I'm just upgrading one of my slaves to get an additional (second) SSD. I already have a 2TB HDD. If I move some libraries to the SSD from the HDD does this now mean I need to install VEP on the new SSD as well (and therefore somehow use up a second license)? If my plugin is on the HDD, how will it know to get some libraries from the HDD and others from the SSD? Any pointers to help me get my head around what is needed here would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Hi,

    Which OS is that?
In general, your plug-ins are kept in one place, and the data management of each plug-in is organized within the plug-ins.

To VE PRO, this does not matter. You will always only need one license on each computer you want to run a VE PRO Server on.

    Best,

  • Hi Paul,

This is Windows 10. I'll have some VIs installed on the HDD, and some installed on the new SSD, meaning there will be VSTPlugin folders on both. Even though the drives are both physically installed in one PC, will this use up two licenses of VEP?

    - or -

can I install one instance (on only one of the two drives), and just point the VST preferences to the VST folders on both drives?

Thanks for your help with this.

No, you will only need one license for the PC regardless of how many hard drives you are using on the PC.
