    I have been doing some experiments with the Event Input method of getting Logic to use Multiport Midi.

    So far have tested with two VEP instances both with 5 Ports. In Logic I have 1 Software Instrument Track with VEP Server plugin and 4 Software Instrument Tracks with VEP Event Input plugin and I/O plugin bypassed.

    All works great with very low CPU on master computer and no dropouts.

    What I cannot do is Mute or Solo any of the Multiport tracks as only the main VEP Server track controls the audio.

    If I were to use a Multi Output version of the Server plugin and route the audio in the VEP server instance, is there a way to route the audio to the tracks with Event Input plugins without the need for Auxes?

    I just do not like the idea of extra Aux tracks duplicating routing just to get audio back.

    If not is there a way to Mute/Solo the Event Input tracks? The Midi greys out when I Mute them but the only way I can seem to stop them playing through Logic is the Track On/Off button in Logic.

    I have pretty much the same question. I'd love to be able to route the audio from a given channel in the Server directly back to the track which has the Event Input plugin in Logic so that I can control it from the same channel that has the midi on it. Again, having inserted a multi-output version of the plugin in Logic I'd rather not have to resort to using multiple aux tracks alongside the tracks which have the Event I. plugin and midi on them just to be able to control the audio. This would make for a very cumbersome setup/template.

    So I'm wondering if you or anyone else has had any succes with this? I know this is quite an old thread but it fits exactly with my question so I thought I'd post here rather than start a new one. Thanks.

    I'm really looking forward to AU3.  In the meantime try this.  You can mute/solo midi tracks when setup this way:
