  • eLicenser problem!!!

    Hello all,

I bought Bosendorfer Imperial Piano a couple of weeks ago and in the beginning, everything worked fine. Now, each time I open my project in Logic or I open just the instrument in the Vienna Instruments Pro Standalone I get this message and nothing loads, no sound at all:

Steinberg eLicenser returned invalid data. (#2)

I have updated the VI Pro app, I have performed all maintenance tasks in eLicenser Control Centre but nothing works.

Any help wold be most appreciated, I have a tight deadline and I don't know what to do...

    Thanks in advance,

    Antonis

  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of the eLicenser Control center (https://www.steinberg.net/en/company/technologies/elicenser.html) + Restart your computer.
Most of the times this fixes all kinds of issues with the eLicenser software.

  • Just did that but to no avail; I still get the same message

  • If nobody can help, could you please tell me were I should look for an answer to my problem? I am really short on time and I can't seem to find a solution..
    Thanks!

  • Hi ant.anestis,

Please try and do a clean reinstallation of your eLCC:

==> Reboot your computer(!) an open the “Terminal” application which resides in “/Applications/Utilities/”

    1) Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal window and hit the <Enter> key (this is one single line only):

    sudo rm -rf /System/L*/E*/Auth*S*.plugin

After hitting the <Enter> key, you will be prompted for your  administrator's password -- please enter it (although it will not be  visible during typing) and hit the <Enter> key again.

    2) Copy and paste following command into the Terminal window and hit the <Enter> key (again, this is one single line only):

    sudo rm -rf /Lib*/Pref*/.Auth*S*

    3) Copy and paste following command into the Terminal window and hit the <Enter> key (once more, this is one single line only):

    sudo rm -rf /Lib*/App*Support/Syn*S*-eL*

Now, your eLicenser Control system is not in a functional state anymore, therefore, before launching any application etc.:

    4) Install the latest version of the eLicenser Control from:

    ==> https://www.steinberg.net/en/company/technologies/elicenser.html

After successful installation, you will have acquired a "clean" eLicenser Control system.

    Does that make a difference?

    Best, Marnix

  • Hello Marnix,

unfortunately, no, this hasn't solved my problem either... I have also asked a friend of mine who is a computer programmer to help me with your instructions, in case I made a mistake and again, the answer is no. So, are there any other possible solutions? What seems curious is that all the other instruments that I have, are working just fine...
Waiting eagerly for anything that could be of help.

    Thank you...

    Best, Antonis
