  • [SOLVED] In desperate need of help - audio dropping in VEPRO6

Hey all, so I'm gonna make this simple:
Master: iMac, High Sierra 3.5 i7, 24GB ram
Slave: PC, Windows 10 Pro, 16GB Ram, 3.6 8-Core Processor
The two computers are connected via cat6 cable
**VEPro6 has successfully run on both machines together, with no issues**

All of a sudden, the netoworked PC drops the audio as if it overloads, about every 8-10 seconds, no matter how many or how little instruments I load. I can't figure out what's going on, but its unusable since it's cutting out so much. And yes, both instances are up to date.

    VEPro6/CPU load never exceeds 14%

    *****EDIT*****

IP address and subnet mask had somehow changed on the Ethernet connection of my master machine. Changed it manually to correct specifications and issue was resolved. I should also mention I deleted the firewall port rules on the networked pc and rebuilt them, but I don’t think that was the nature of the issue.

  • Hi,

What are the network details? Could it be that you're trying to connect via wireless connection?

  • I would look carefully a the PC network card.  Obviously change the ethernet cable to check. I dont imagine you are using an adaptor of any kind from the mac but if you are change that as well etc. Try running them through a hub or network switch. Use network monitoring software to look at whats happening. Do other network connections drop? Can you see both machines from each other? Very frustrating |I know but just few ideas. Good luck!

So when I disable the wireless connection on the PC, it doesnt show up on the server at all - which in a way is great, because at least I narrowed the dropout down to the fact that it was trying to run over Wifi. However, now when it's turned off, I can't see it at all and no changes have been made to my setup.

  • Hi, I have pretty much the same setup and am having the same problem. Every 15 seconds or so I get silent hiccups.. checked the cable, tried different IP's and still the same. The strange thing is that there may be a day that it works OK. I am builiding a template on Cubase.

It has to be the connection because it works fine on a single computer but not when not connected to slave.

    Thanks,

    Carlos

    Hi calimbo76,

Have you tried deactivating Wi-Fi on your master computer?

Please send screenshots of the network settings on all involved computers to support@vsl.co.at

FYI: ajsealymusic´s problem has been resolved by reviewing the IP addresses and subnet masks in his network!

  • Hi Marnix,

I added a network card to my PC and the problem is fixed.

Looks like in a lot of cases, using the ethernet controller that the motherboard comes with is not enough for smooth streaming, a separate PCIe network card is necessary.

    Thank you for your help!
