    Hi,

    I see that the vibrato crossfades in Synchron Strings all either go between no legato->regular or no legato->lyrical. Is it possible to crossfade between all three levels? I tried setting it up as you can see, but although when CC20 goes slowly through one continuous curve I SEE it going through the middle level, but I can't HEAR any difference between that and the 2 level version (no-vibrato->lyrical).

    Am I missing something?

    You should raise the max. voice count to 1024 and take a look at the x-fade settings on the edit page.

    I tried something simpler, and it works fine. In fact I'm wondering why we need the xfade vibrato patches at all. Here I just set dim.ctrl.B to xfade mode. And it works beautifully, even on one note.

    I think we need some clarification for this. Like you, I don't understand why we get a two levels XF only.

    Just take care there's a special noVib patch for the XF. I think the gain is lower than the standard noVib patch. And when layering the three patches, for Full/Legato/Normal i.e. :
    - 12M VI-14_Legato-noVxLyV
    - 11F VI-14_Legato-Vib
    - 13F VI-14_Legato-LyV,
    the regular vib sounds too loud then imo. It can even sound louder than the Lyrical one when downcrossfading from Lyr to Reg. Maybe that's the reason why the progression is not that clear.

    @Paul, can you please give us some infos about the noVxLyV patch, what has been modified/edited ? And how to layer all three vib/non vib patches.

    Hi, 

    The regular vibrato patch captures the vibrato stages as they are naturally added to the velocity levels. 

    The lyrical vibrato is the most intense vibrato the players could produce on any velocity level. 

    In our opinion, these two approaches do not work together as crossfade, trhat's why we offered two options in the factory preset.

    I just don't get the idea, Paul...

    Ok, the regular played at low velocities is quite free from vibrato which increases with velocity. That's the natural way of expression indeed.

    So what's the goal with the lyrical, having vibrato with low velocities ? That said the lyrical sounds quite less intense than the regular at high velocities so maybe I was expecting for something else, some extra vibrato, more intense and expressive than the regular, let's say 'lyrical'. I guess I was wrong.

    And what's the difference between the two noVib patches, the standard one and the XF one ?

    Ok Paul, thank you for the infos, looks clearer now.

    BTW, why different ? Don't know, that's what I was asking as there are 6x2 different noVib patches, 6 usual and 6 'xLyV' under XFade Resource ;-)

    Hello javajam!

    The No-Vibrato patches in the resources folder have a slightly different dynamic behviour than the regular ones so that they can be better crossfaded with the lyrical vibrato patches.
