  • VSL v6.0.16999 and Garageband

    Hello, all πŸ˜Š

I have just installed my VSL Vienna Special Edition Vol. 1 on my iMac running High Sierra 10.13.6. If it's alright, I would like to ask and confirm if my VSL version is, indeed, NOT compatible with Garageband v10.3.1 ?

Vienna Instruments and VE (not Pro) show up as plug-ins in Garageband, but errors occur:

    1. When I load Vienna Instruments in Garageband, the GUI seems to load normally, BUT there is no list of instruments/patches.

    2. Also, when I try to load VE, the opening graphics come up but immediately follwed by a series of error notification pop-ups that have to do with the eLicenser and such.

I've searched the web and the VSL Community forum and have found that since around 2014 (at least the pertinent posts that turned up were from around that time), the VSL and Garageband already seem not to have been exactly compatible. Some mentioned the "sandbox" thing. I'm not a techie guy, so I don't know what to conclude as fact. πŸ˜³

However, just so I don't pull my hair out unnecessarily, I do wish to confirm if this is an established fact? πŸ˜•

    Hope someone can enlighten me.

    Thank you, everyone!

  • 1) you need to install last version of the eLicenser

    2) Check your licenses are recorded

    3) run VI and VE in standalone

    4) If OK run it in Garage band

    5) If it does not work check if you can use IAC in Garage band

    6) If so use IAC connection to VE PRO standalone

If you need more help contact me

    Hi, Cyril

Thank you for your reply and your workaround recommendation. πŸ‘

I will try this out. But, so far, I'm good with the first 3 steps in your procedure. 😊 I'll move on to step #4 and will try the IAC route this weekend to see how it goes. I'll get in touch again (thanks for your generosity!) should I need further help.  πŸ˜³

By the way, I don't have VE Pro. I only have the regular (NON-PRO) version of VE. I hope the procedure still applies. I'll guess I'll be finding out this weekend. πŸ˜

    Thank you very much again!

I always had the PRO version ! so I cannot help you on the non PRO

    Sorry

    Hi, Cyril

Thanks for getting back to me.

It's alright, but I'll try the IAC anyway and see how it goes. Actually, I may finally decide to get the PRO since I'm aware that it should benefit me a lot in terms of workflow and CPU usage. πŸ˜Š

    Thanks, again!
