  • Any Synchronized Solostrings in the Pipeline in the next time? ;-)

Just for the most appropriate scheduling of my next projects:

Are there synchronized Solostrings in the Pipeline for the near Future?

(I know VSL would not answer anything concrete on questions like that, but any meaningful smiley will be wellcome 😉)

I fear they are. But I'm not excited by the idea: Solos are not compatible with the whole "overlapping" concept of Synchron player (cross fade and overlapping samples are creating the disgusting random effect of "a 2, solo, a 2, solo") and Solos are really useful when you are free of deciding the position (then lot of different IR should be requested, like in MIRx, for 1st chair, solo center, solo lateral, fornt, back etc. and still finally not flexible enough).

If you own them in VI format (even from Special Edition), I recommend you use MIR Pro instead.

(If one doesn't own MIR Pro, I recommend the investment... MIR Pro 24 is real value for money, during promotions it's a no-brainer buy.)

  • I hope they will. That would be awesome. The SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings are very good. I really love the legato patches. They are very smooth. And if they do the same thing with solo strings, it will be amazing.

Fatis is right in respect to the fact, that Soloinstruments doesn't tolerate Phasshiftingeffects, which are very proable whenever you will X-fade different recordings of the same note. While those Effects are nearly pretty natural for all ensemblestringsections, which allows it presumably to transfer them in Synchron-Player-Format, for Solostrings it would be at least pretty much work to avoid all possible Phase-inconsistencies. However. it seams as if it is at least possible to avoid them by painstakingly editing (if we can believe what embertone pretends) But I have some doubts if this is also true for existing Samples and assume this might depemd on the way they are recorded. Therefore I would assume it might be perhaps even more probable to wait for Synchon-Solostrings than for a synchronized Version.

What of course will be another large but promising task would be to get the Dimensionstrings Synchronized. I cant imagine a better Player-concept for their wealth of articulation-variants than the Synchronplayer and since there even the single player is always meant to be part of an ensemble the phaseshifting should not be that problem.

Hhowever, I have no doubts, trhat the VSL-Guys are not in Danger for any boreout at all. What ever they currently do, it seems to me quite probable it is something we are already waiting for.😃

  • I do not think that the VSL Synchronizes Solo Strings and Dimension Strings. I could imagine that Appassionata Strings are the next hot candidate, because people are missing some Hollywood - touch in SS1. That would be a logical step and many people would like it.

  • Why Synchron-ized, when we can get the real thing. "Synchron Solo Strings" , I would rather see that rather than a Synchron-ized version.

I hope VSL moves forward with their Synchron Line of Libraries, and not divert attention to Synchroizing the silent stage based libraries until much later on, please give priority to the Synchron Library Line.

👍 (While Synchron-Solostrings would be rather kind of "First-Chair" or "Soloist" Samples than anything like a stringquartet which presumably had to be simulated than with more close mikrophone in the Mix.)

Meanwhile I still think, the Dimension-Series would deserve to finally get a Player like the Synchron-Player, which would for instance make it much easier to use those elabvorate Patch-Sets restrickted to one of the four Strings

And yes the "Hollywood"- buzzword...... may be synchronized Appasionatas might calm down those who react on things like that.

Meanwhile I would (perhaps like muziksculp) prefer to get it in Synchron-Strings some additional Synchron-patches ....among others some with those nice more intensive Vibratos of the Appassionata (other I would like beside the missing sordino and sul pont sets a larger variety of Dynamics/fp and shorts/detaches).

But.... one Step after the other.

Yes, Fahl5, I agree 100%. The Synchron player approach to patches would save so much time: being today the samples organized by player in the VI tree, it's a pain to build a custom matrix, opening all the folders one by one, or copy pasting cells from the big VI Pro matrixes.

Organizing patches by articulations instead (e.g. all staccatos player 1, 2 , 3 etc. in the same folder) was more convenient in my humble opinion and in the "synchron" style very flexible (e.g. multi player instead of multi mic, but same logic). But humanization function should be a must...
