  • CC7 does not work in Synchron Strings

For some reason, although my controls are configured as you can see, CC7 has no effect at all. If I add a VIPro instance on the same midi channel, there it works normally.

If I move it manually on the SynStr screen, as soon as the track starts to play it always goes to 100, and then no CC7 info affects it.

  • Here is what the control tab looks like. Again, I don't see what's wrong.

I tried setting Master Volume to another controller, and if I send the new one from my DAW all is well. But if I set it back to CC7 the problem returns.

Can anybody exlpain what's going on here? Paul?

  • Hi Alan,

I was not able to reproduce this behavior with the current version of SY Player. But I have an idea. If you use Cubase, and an expression map for the track you are having troubles with, check if that expression map uses CC7 in some articulations. You could also try MIDI monitor plugin (again, in Cubase) to see if CC7 event is coming through (just for sanity check).

  • First of all, thank you very much for trying to help. I don't use Cubase, I use DP, and after a lot of experimenting I found a solution, but I still don't understand why the original file does not work. The problem finally is not with the Synchro strings (phew!) but in the file. But I still have no idea what it is.

Here is what I did: I copied the problem track into a new track and sent that to the Synchro strings. Now all behaves normally.  Same midi data exactly, different behaviour. I can see no difference at all in the 2 event lists so I have no idea why the first track does not work (and it still does not work if I go back to it) and the new copy does.

I tried saving the piece as a midi file, and importing it, and all is fine.

In all these years of working with DP and virtual instruments I have never seen this before!

Anyway, at least I can work properly now in the (copied) file.

    Thanks again!
