As a project to learn the Synchron Player and Synchron Strings 1 I worked on this piece.

    Air auf der G-Saite

  • 👍 wow it is a great work. Thanks.

  • What I like very much in this project, that you have chosen a piece of music which nearly forces literally to program the development of the single tone. This seem to me one major key to develop the musical most convincing use of the Synchron Strings.

What I also like are the non legato notes of the accompagniment. Especially, since on the first glance on the SyStr.Patchlist it might seem as if less extreme short patches might still miss. However yours are great. Did you just used Long notes or Legato patches, without overlapping their duration or did you programmed each of their very convenient gently attac and decay?

  • Hi Kamil and Steffen,

Thanks both of you for your nice words.

    @ Steffen:
Indeed the development of the tones plus the legato aspect were two reasons to choose this piece.
Concerning the short notes in the celli and double basses I used the Long Notes with soft attack and regular vibrato for the celli and the Long Notes with normal attack and regular vibrato for the double basses without adapting with c2 or c11 (except some volume adaptions for some notes) and for the end of the first episode soft legato for the Celli and normal legato for the double basses.

For the first violins I made a preset for three solo violins (with the same keyswitches and controls as the Synchron Player), which I humanized with the medium preset of dimension strings. They play with the first violins. I like something in the core of the sound of the first violins, but I also miss often something and for that reason I used in this case the 3 solo violins. Also I wanted to make the sound just a little less tight and clean. In the palet of string sounds I think Synchrons Strings 1 is absolutely a enormous gain. It gives the strings more power, precision (as far as I discovered until now) and consistency. But I often needs from other libraries some help to make a vivid total sound.

  • As always, MMKA, a fine demonstration of your musicality and programming skills.  It's especially difficult to program pieces that are well known and so lyrical/expressive.  You've done a great job with this!

    Cheers,

    Dave

Excellent programming. I am not so much a fan of SyS in this particular context. I think you could use the exact same programming, put in VI Chamber Strings, and achieve a more emotive performance. Just my two cents. You did a fine job.
