    Hello everyone,

    following problem: on all saxophones (SE+) there seems to be some sort of delay in the pLeS (legato-sus) patch between the actual legato sample and the subsequent sustain sample. After a search on these forums it seems to be linked to the Preload Size in VI Pro. All my libraries are on an external SSD, and the reading speeds seem to be fine (550-600 Mb/s).

    Interestingly, this behaviour is only noticeable on saxophone pLeS patches, all other patches on saxes and all other instruments are absolutely fine.

    I tried the highest setting (32,768) – somewhat better, but the delay is still very noticeable.

    Any input on the issue is appreciated.

    Can you post a quick example for this? mp3 or, even better, a short sequencer project, as you like.

    Hi, 

    I think what you hear is simply the difference between the authentic legato note connection and the connection that Xfades into a long note (leg-sus).

    But why is the delay so audible, i.e. why does the leg-sus sample kick in so late? Is there a way to fix this?

    I remember having this issue with some other instruments right after I moved my library to an SSD and set the preload size too low. However, now, even on the lowest setting, other instruments seem to be fine. The only problem is the pLeS patch on saxes.

    Hi Stan, 

    In my eyes that has nothing to do with the preload size, it's just that the sustains of the saxes were hard to fit to the legato transitions.

    The preload setting definitely affects the length of the gap between the legato and leg-sus samples. Maybe there is something wrong with the patch.

    Granted, I don't have the newest machine (iMac 2013, 10.12, 2.7Ghz i5, 8Gb), but other SE instruments don't have this problem, only the saxes for some reason.

    I guess I will just have to do without this one patch.
