  • Looking for advise about CUP usage related setup for large scale template

    Hello everyone:

I am a long-term customer of VSL products, and just finished building a large scale template includes VSL's most recent products.

I am hope to discuss the problem with everyone here and appreciate to hear you advise about CPU realted settings.

    My current template includes:

    1. Host mac, which is a 12-core Xeon E5 2.7G mac pro with 64G RAM and 3TB SSD. Running 50G RAM samples includes VI Pro, Strezov Sampling on Kontakt, Audiobro Lass on Kontakt, MIR PRO for most instruments, and bunch of Vienna Suite Pro plug-ins.

    2. Slave PC with Xeon 8-Core 16 threads Xeon 2.2G PC with 64G RAM and 2TB SSD, running all Synchron series. They are mostly on "Room-Mix" mode. Vienna Suite Pro is running on it as well.

    3. Slave mac with Core i7 8-Core, 16G RAM and 512G SSD, running synth and all other engings without MIR PRO, also Vienna Suite Pro included.

Maybe the CPU power is still not quite enough for Synchron Player, but I am facing a 50% system CPU usage on host mac for VE6. This significantly slows my Pro Tools (12.8.1) down. Also, I can hear clip whem play polyphonic legatos for Synchron Strings on slave pc. (voice limit are universally set to 256, release set to 4, legato blur set to 30)

I wonder if this can be fixed by having a better setting for Multiprocessing Threads on VE6, Engine Settings on Synchron Player, Voice and Release Sample Limit on Synchron Player, as well as Engine Settings for VI PRO?

Really appreciated if anyone could share your experience!

    Cheers!

  • To check your disk I/O you go in Activity Monitor/memory, Swap used must be 0  after plying your song

You can improve your disk I/O putting your SSD in a Raid 0, it is said you gain 1.5 speed by disk

When done you can reduce the pre-load buffers size
