  • Flautando for regular Chamber Strings I?

    Hallo VSL,

I was wondering since the Syncronized Version of Chamber Strings now has the Flautando Articulation previously only present in Orchestral and Solo Strings, will the "old" chamber Strings be updated to include those as well. Are these new recordings or did you do some magic to the old samples?

Just think this would be a nice upgrade for loyal customers!^^

There are several articulations that appear 'new':

    sustained soft

    flautando

    legato soft

    legato fast

    portamento nonvib

    sfz nonvib

    fp nonvib

    second violins

I would gladly pay for an update to Chamber Strings that included these.

Similarly if they have more content of any sort for Dimension Strings.

Well, VSL announcement was clear about it, and later Paul also gave some more explanation: no new recording, but clever sound editing and old samples remastering.

If it's really easy and/or worthy to be transferred in VI I don't know... the sound of the 2 versions is slightly different due to editing, not sure if they still match.

  • The main Idea is obviously to get a similar set of arfticulation types for all synchron Libraries, to be able to establish one general articulation selection standard, to allow to reduce the amount of tedious programming complexity and allow switching from one sample set to the next without reprogramming all articulation asignment..

Of course this is worth to be done and one of the important improvements able with the new Synchjron-Concept.

I do not think they will sell a flautando being just the result of "remastered" original recordings as part of any VI-Library.

(considering another discussion about continuing VI instead of the new Synchron Series  this might be a good exsample for a pretty simple consequence: If you dont want anything new, than dont ask for any improvement, if you want improvement, dont complain about anything new, which make it possible.)

I try to understand what you wrote, even if it's sounding as an off-topic, tautological and authoritarian non-sense the way you wrote it.

If you don't agree with the fair desire of several users of getting updates and new instruments in the VI Series, as in the Software Package product line, with special focus on MIR, MIRx and VE Pro, ok, it's your opinion, and you may express it, as the other expressed their own whishes.

I don't think there is any philosophical "good, illuminate, looking forward" vs. "bad, obscurantist, conservative" challenge.

There is marketing and technology, there is identity and market share etc. Nothing else, and it's based on customers needs and customers focus.

VSL has decided to enter in a new market where it was almost non present before, the market of quick orchestration tools, designed for producers under time pressure, often creating and even recording orchestral scores playing keyboard in real time. This was probably supported by intelligent discussion and market research, as competitors assessment.

The decision was made, the investment done, the product positioning defined, and the big work started: everybody looking for this kind of technical features will be very happy, and I hope VSL sales will have a new boost tanks to the larger target of customers they can now serve with the new product line.

This product management and product marketing activity by the way, didn't make the VI + MIR Pro workflow obslete or inferior: it's evident from sound results and from difference in possibilities that still MIR Pro and VI can offer something slightly different, and appreciated by the large customers base VSL has built before entering in the new field.

It's even more evident reading the precise and objective comments and requests of users. All the rest, is just sterile polemic, not a battle between the "right innovators" and the "evil and stupid conservative". Just starting this type of argument is pure arrogance in my very humble and very personal opinion.

Sorry I can not see any relation of the Smart Orchestra and question about the Synchronized Chamberstring-Flautando in VI Chamber Strings. I fear you just missed the topic fundamently. Sorry to say, but never mind, we are all humans.😉

While the standarized Workflow which is only possible in the Synchron-Productline does indeed make a lot tedious work to program the articulation selection in VI obsolete. and so it should do for instance the improved density of velocity layers compared to the few we had in the VI-Cube-Libraries.

I do have no problem with the very justified admiration for the dimension Series and do love them  to very much, but. I still see the Flautandos in the synchronized Chamberstrings as part of a unification of patch asignment, which VI will never be able to and thats why I still believe they will never try to go back with those Flautandos to ad them in any previous VI-Library.

Oh yes you are very human. Probably this is the reason why after months you didn't get yet what's new and what's the target  of the Synchron series, despite the wonderful promotional videos of Paul. But to be honest... who cares of you? ðŸ˜ƒ It's important the target customers understand, not you.

Same for VI and MIR pro supporters: numbers make the difference, a personal opinion doesn't.

(Clear-up done... now I press the "Ignore" button again)

Oh you already did and consequently "ignored" completly the subject of this thread "Flautando for regular Chamber strings". Sorry but thats unfortunable to obvioous.
