  • Problem with Directory Manager and moving libraries

I moved my libraries to a new disk and I updated their location in the directory manager, but when I open vienna instruments pro (as a plugin in Logic and as standalone) it still can't detect them.  I updated all software to make sure I have the newest version of everything and tried on multiple computers.  Seems like it should work - I can see that the directory manager recognizes the location of the libraries.   Please help thanks

    Hi Hunter,

Try this: Please open the Directory Manager (find it in "Applications" (OS X) or "All Programs" (Win) => then "Vienna Instruments").
Remove all folders - then add all sample content again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer.
More information about how the Directory Manager works can be found in the video "How to use the Directory Manager".

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul:

I'm having the very same problem, and deleting the folders and re-adding them with drag-and-drop didn't change anything.  I just updated all the software, the download manager, the library installer, the original VI and VE programs (although I also have the VI PRO).

I reviewed the instructions for the library installer and tried to install one of my libraries, the SE-Strings+. No matter what I do, it doesn't show up in VI or VI-PRO.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Ken Elias

  • Hi Ken,

Please send screenshots to support@vsl.co.at, of the following:

    - Directory Manager

    - Sample location in Finder/Explorer

    - VI Preset Browser

    - VI Matrix Browser

    - eLicenser Control Center showing the licenses

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Hey, all. I'm just finishing up setting up a new Mac, and having the same problem. Neither VIP or Synchron Player sees any of my libraries, whether standalone or in Logic. eLicenses are up to date, everything is properly installed and I've dragged the library locations into the Directory Manager more than once. Did you ever figure out a solution to this?

  • Okay, it's just not working, and I'm giving up and re-downloading everything. Ugh. This begs another question, though. Can my older VI SE libraries and my Synchro-nized versions of the same share the same sample set, or do I need to download and install both? I'm using the Synchron versions exclusively now, of course, but I have a lot of old projects that use VIP, so I'll need to make sure those are still viable.

    Hi Sean,

I overlooked your thread, sorry about that. Re-downloading will work, but you can also contact us directly with specific questions via support@vsl.co.at.

VI Collections and SYNCHRON-ized collections work with individual and independent databases.

  • Thanks, Paul. I got an email from Andreas with that information. I completely missed that the Synchron libraries had a different library management system. The Directory Manager did work for my VI libraries, but by the time I got the info on the Synchron libraries, I had already re-downloaded everything. All is working properly now.

Oh, and I'm assuming the SE Editions do need separate libraries for the two versions, correct?

  • Hi Sean,

    Thanks for the update.

Yes, VI Special Editions and SY-ized Special Editions come with independent databases (and licenses, btw).

    Paul

  • Hello,

Is there any solution to this by now? I'm having the same exact issue. deleting and adding the folders from the new location to directory manager seems to have no effect whatsoever when opening an instrument, the browser remains empty and I can't load anything.

    Please help

    Thanks

    Tom
