  • Uninstalling the non-Pro versions after installing Pro

    Hi,

I have installed both Vienna Instruments Pro and Vienna Ensemble Pro in my system. Can I uninstall the non-Pro versions? Will the Pro versions be open by older projects instead?

I suspect Dorico is not seeing the Pro versions, because I still have the non-Pro versions in my drive.

  • If you have used the non-Pro versions you should keep them installed.
In VE Pro you can automaticly upgrade non-pro instances to pro ones.

But as far as I know it will not be done automaticly and also your DAW will not find the plugins.

  • Dear Bbelius, thank you very much for your answer. So, I should be better keep both versions, and see how I can convince Dorico to see the one I want to be used.

  • Try reinstalling VE Pro and VI Pro and make sure the VST plugins are getting installed in the correct directories.

Back when I bought VE Pro I migrated my old projects because I had not that many and uninstalled the non-pro versions.

    Best, Ben

  • Ben,

Yes, I could discover that Dorico requires VST plugins, and I only had the AU versions. Vienna Instrument Pro, being only VST (or VST2? I can't see the VST2 plugin in my drive) can't be seen without a workaround I've not tried. Vienna Ensemble Pro is VST3, and works fine.
