  • Getting a 1gbps Connection with PC to Mac currently maxed at 100mbps

Hey guys sorry new to VEPRO I've been using a cat6 ethernet cable between my PC and Mac and im getting maxed out at 100mbps and I dont know how to get that up to 1gbps and what I have to buy, also I'm thinking maybe becasue I have to use a Thunderbolt adapter it may slow down my connection.

Anyone got any advice or help?

  • Hi,
Thunderbolt should not be the problem, in fact it is almost the fastest connection type you can get.
Make sure, your thunderbolt adapter has 1gbit rating (I assume you use it on your Mac), as well as the network card in your PC.
For your PC: gigabit-network cards are affordable and easy to install, or you can buy a USB3 to ethernet adapter (make sure it has the correct rating). Make sure to stick it into the USB3 port, as USB2 has not enought speed.

    Best, Ben
