  • Gigabit ports and master/slave connection

    Hi all,

I'd like to connect via ethernet a master (Mac Pro 2012 with 1000BASE-T type of Ethernet port) with a slave that I'm about to buy, which will probably have a new 10G (faster) ethernet port.

    1st question: is 10G excessive?
2: If I connect the two machines, will the data travel at the slower port's speed? (1000BASE-T speed)
3: Is there a way to have the same technology (10G) on the Mac Pro?
4: Should I buy any router, hub, you name it....and why?

My goal is to optimise of course speed of transfer and stability between master and slave machines.

    Thanks in advance.
