  • Dimension strings soundset problem?

    last edited

    Hi Andi,

I think I may have found a bug in the soundset for Dimension strings...

When I use tremolo and add accents, the accent seems to trigger the harmonic tremolo rather than just increasing the volume slightly.

I have uploaded the section of my score with the appropriate soundset.

Can you confirm the problem and suggest a work around?

    Kind regards,

    Nick

  • Hello Nick!

I have seen that you are using the"VE Special Edition PLUS" and the "VE Strings" sound set in your playback configuration. Accents are defined for the Special Edition PLUS sound set, but not for the Strings sound set. That's why using accents for Dimension Strings brings erratic results in your case. I recommend going to the Sibelius playback dictionary, Articulations/Accent entry. Simply remove what's written under "Sound ID change" and click OK. This should solve your problem.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks Andi. The dictionary modification does indeed work. If I wanted to eliminate the Special Edition from my config, what would I use for the piano?

    Kind regards,

    Nick

  • Hello Nick!

For our pianos, you can use the Special Edition, Special Edition PLUS or General MIDI sound sets.

  • OK thanks. But does that mean the dictionary from the Special Edition will always interfere with the accents from Dimension strings?

    Nick

  • As far as I know, it only interferes, if you have Strings added for the Special Edition sound set AND the Strings sound set. If you only use the piano with the Special Edition sound set there shouldn't be any problem.

    Andi
