    hi all ..

    todays i have to open a bunch of 9 years old logic projects including vienna instruments / vienna ensemble.

    as we know, logic pro x first has to convert the old project file into the actual format.

    done.

    when opening the converted song everything is fine, except vienna ensemble.

    part of the song was a multichannel VE plugin, connected to the vienna ensemble server app.

    when opening logic, the plugin opens the server host automatically as expected, but there are no instruments loaded in the host. only the default GUI comes up. 

    i installed all newest updates of:

    vienna ensemble (6)

    vienna instruments (6)

    vienna ensemble pro (6)

    vienna instruments pro

    OSX 10.13.6 / LXP 10.4.2

    is there a trick or a missing link to fix this problem?

    Hi Thomas, 

    Back in 2009, we were using Vienna Ensemble 2 and Vienna Ensemble 3 (a bit later called VE PRO 4). 

    A lot of things have changed in that time, and I'm afraid it will take some effort to open those projects.

    Safest way to go is to install OS X 10.6.8  (probably your OS in 2009) on a separate drive and I will try to dig out those old versions from our archive. 

    Another option is to load the instruments you used, especially if you know that you have been using factory presets or your own custom presets, which should still be available within VI / PRO.  That also depends on how well documented your arrangements are. 

    I'll try to assist the best way possible, the most efficient communication channel for such a specific task will be support@vsl.co.at.

    Thanks Paul .. .. because there's no documentation of that (very) old setup, it will be the best to dig my snow leopard DVD's (and of course a drive!) to restaurate this old songs. .. i don't remember 'the old way' to connect logíc with VE. Do they both have to reside on the same machine? .. best. Thomas

    Hi Thomas, 

    The old VE (non-PRO) worked just like it does now, it starts up the Service in the background when you insert the plug-in.

    With VE PRO, it has also been the same system: Start the VE PRO Server on your computer and connect to it from your sequencer.

    .. Logic Pro 8+9
