  • Auto Voicing Broken?

    Hi,

I am trying to experiment with auto voice system in VI Pro. Unfortunately I did not manage to achieve any correct result.

    Here is my setup.

I create a cell in which I put in slot 1a a legato trumpet (from SE Vol 1.) and in slot 2a I put also the same legato trumpet. Now I use the 1 + 2 factory setup for voice and activate it.

Now let's say I play and hold a note. Meanwhile I play a melody on top of that. I can hear the sound of the first note but no sound for the melody line. It is like the system works in mono mode.

Is it normal? Do I miss something?

  • Never minds. I have found the answer. Auto voicing is not working with legato patch...

  • Did you try polyphonic legato?

  • Hi,

The logic of auto voicing does not work with legato, be it monophonic or polyphonic (there is no way to tell which note should be connected to which following note...), but it works great for chords with single notes.

    Best,

  • Hi, Yes I ´ve tried but as the manual says, it is not possible to use auto voicing with legato patches. I think it sould work as the polyphonic legato implies the same kind of logic as the auto voicing. Maybe someone from VSL can explain why in more details. Thanks

Well it seems for me that legato or polyphonic legato implies knowing which notes are connected together. That is the definition of legato. So that’s why I said that it is the same kind of logic.
