  • which souncard

when i built my last PC i used an M-audio Delta Audiophile 2496 PCIe sound card. They're not made any more what should I be using now?

  • would a creative soundblaster card work with VSL OK?

  • I would go for a more professional soundcard with stable ASIO drivers. You can also use an external soundcard: a USB or Thunderbolt soundcard will work too. some interfaces you should consider: Steinberg UR / Focusrite Scarlet / RME...

  • Thanks bbelius, my set up is such that I don't need to record any live instruments I just use the PC to create virtual performances with VSL and sibelius. The good thing about the M-audio deltaphile 2496 was that it ws so cheap. Would you alter your recommendations?

  • I would still buy a descent audio-interface with good native ASIO support, to profit from stable and good sound as well as low latencies during live input. The cheapest Steinberg / Focusrite interfaces cost around 90€.

I would go for an interface with MIDI input, even if you don't need it now.
