  • No Sound with MIR - Help!

I am trying to demo MIR and I have had a series of issues with it on my main workstation (Mac).  Right now I am getting NO sound when MIR is instantiated on the channel.  A few things to note about my setup:

    1. Mac running 10.13.5
    2. Logic Pro 10.4.3
    3. VEP Server 6.0.17226 (Nov 2018 Update)
    4. MIR (demo) activated on elicenser (I have run maintenance procedures on this)
    5. MIR Roompack 1 demo activated on elicenser (Konzerthaus Grosser Saal is the venue I've loaded up)
    6. Buffer settings - 256 in DAW, 256 for MIR
    7. Only one channel of Kontakt 5 loaded and CPU load is low single digits so no processing power issues

I've had the already-reported issue around the GUI not being able to move icons, but the undocking and redocking of the MIR window solved this.  Right now, there is simply no audio when MIR is on a channel.  When I bypass MIR the audio is there.  When MIR is turned on there is no sound whatsoever.

There is no Mute or Solo active in MIR on the dry channel and the volume is at unity.  The MIR main output settings the mic is the stereo MIR Default in the 7th row.  No sound on dry or wet solo (or blended).

I'd really like to take advantage of voucher discount going on and buy MIR, but don't have confidence it will work yet and feel I'm running out of time!  Any help is much appreciated!

  • Try setting the interface buffer size to a value <= 512

  • Thanks for the suggestion.  I failed to mention that I also tried a 1024 buffer at one point with the same result.  I tried 512 and the max (32768) with no luck either.

Does anyone know if you have to restart when you change the buffer for the revised buffer size to take effect?  It didn't make any difference in my end result, but curious to know for sure.

  • Welcome kpbenoit!

    Typical errors would be:

    - VE Pro not actually connected with Logic (... if you can't hear the pre-rendered "Venue Previews" in MIR Pro's Venue Selection window, then you know there's something wrong)

    - MIR Pro Venue not loaded, actually (... when you just see the opening screen saying "Please load Venue")

    - Icons placed outside the "allowed" area of recorded IRs ("HotSpots") - they are greyed-out then.

... in any case it would be a good idea to send your system details and some screen-shots to support@vsl.co.at - we'll look into the issue ASAP. :-)

    Kind regards,

Not the problem I had.  I can control the VEP instance from Logic just fine as long as MIR is disabled.  I can hear the preview of strings in the hall just fine.

I did make that rookie move at one point, but I have the hall loaded, as I mentioned and can hear the preview.

Icons are on the stage in the HotSpot area - front and center stage

Thanks very much for the suggestions.  I sent a note to support already and will follow up with screenshots now.
