  • From Sibelius to Logic transferring articulations

    Hello!

I work with VSL SE in Sibelius. Works nicely.

Interesting question. Is there a way to preserve all articulation changes that you make in Sibelius if you decide to transfer your score into Logic? I tried both Music XML and midi. All articulation changes are lost. Since i could have hundreds, if not thousands of them in one score, this would save time not to have to set them again manually.

  • Hello Jan-Erik!

You can export a MIDI file with Sibelius using the current playback configuration. This way all keyswitches will be written to the MIDI file as well. You can save your Vienna Ensemble project that you use with Sibelius as well and load it with Logic or any other DAW.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Andi again!

    Thanks for quick reply.

I, again, exported a MIDI file with current playback configuration. But I can't see the key switches when imported to Logic. What could I have done wrong? Is there a tutorial on this? What did I miss? Well, this shouldn't be complicated.

The dream scenario would be if it transfered and worked directly with the articulation sets in Logic.

    best regards

  • Hello Jan-Erik!

If you have set up a Sibelius playback configuration including one or more of our sound sets and export a MIDI file with the setting "The current playback device(s)", the keyswitches get included. That's all.

  • Hello!

    That did the trick!

Thank you so much! This will be a great timesaver for me.

And you help me with things which are really Sibelius issues. And Sibelius isn't easy when it comes to playback.

    best regards

  • Hello Andi

Can you do the same with Dorico ?

  • Hello RLD!

If you export a MIDI file with Dorico, the keyswitches and MIDI CC commands from the expression maps are included as well.

    Andi
