  • Synchron Pianos: anyone using KAWAI VPC-1?

I was so impressed by the plyability of the Synchron Pianos that finally I decided to buy a hammer-action controller, and after a bit of research, the Kawai VPC-1 appeared to be the best quality-price choice for my purpose (just getting the keyboard reacting the closest possible to a real piano, and nothing else, since I've plenty of controllers already for other MIDI functionalities).

The product is amazing and the feeling is fantastic, but due to the precision of the keyboard, the velocity curve is a real key to get what you want: the instrument has default curves for several libraries and virtual pianos, but unfortunately not for VSL.

The default for instance is not working well for VSL, but the preset "Heavy" velocity curve works fine for my touch with Synchron Pianos, but I was wondering if anybody else is using this controller, and in case if we may share feedback and curves.

    Try this!!

    "Here is my method."

set E3 [because it's almost a middle note of 88 keys] on Max velocity to calculate sound volume [monitored by Fabfilter L2] compare with Pianoteq 7 which is I miking as close as VSL's Pianos were on "close" mic [I use Ribbon sf24] and disable Repetation Smear for easier look.

using 15 possibillities Velocity [+8 from 0] and set those point by reference from Pianoteq 7.

    Edited with Notepad

    Hope you love it.

Nice job, Thank you for sharing it.

I also developed my custom curves, but in the VPCEditor app.

Now the velocity curve import export function of the Synchron Piano finally made our life easier, and we can share custom curves and ideas...
