  • Viennese Oboe and English Horn

    Hello,

I think I need some confusion dispelled.   I believe I have installed Woodwinds II.  Yet I cannot find the Vienese English Horn and Oboe.  On the site, it appears that these instrument patches should be part of Woodwinds II.  If I were to download and reinstall Woodwinds II, would these patches now be available.

Also, I do note that my patch set has two different oboes - I and II, as well as two different Engliush Horns.  Are these the French and Vienese versions?  If so, which is which?

      Thanks.

  • Hi,

Woodwinds II has both English Horns but only the Viennese Oboe. The more common French Oboe is part of Woodwinds I. Regarding English Horns:

English Horn I = English Horn Viennese
English Horn II = English Horn French

    Best, Ben

  • Thanks Ben,

What Confuses me is that on the patches under the special edition,  the Vienese Oboe patch is actually labeled Vienese.  But on the Woodwinds patch set, there are only oboes 1 and 2 with no labelling as to type.  When I look at the actual data installed on the drive, Oboe 1 is in a Woodwinds II folder whereas Oboe 2 has its own folder.

Would I be correct in assuming that Oboe 1 is the Vienese one?  It sounds as if it probably is.

  • yes, you are correct.
