  • Help Please? VEP 6 licensing issues

Can someone please explain how I get a 4th license working with VEP?

I currently run VEP5 with servers on my master, slave A and slave B.

I want to add a 4th and possible 5th or 6th server slave.

I thought by buying VEP 6, I would simply get 3 more licenses and just run it in tandem with my existing soVEP 5 software. Unfortunately the VEP 6 installer wiped out my VEP 5 install.

It is unclear how to get more tha 3 servers up and running. Do i need to pay more money? buy new software? any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am mid project and trying to figure out if i need to revert back to 5 again.

    thanks

    John

  • Hi John,

VE PRO 6 comes with 3 licenses with every purchase, and I'm afraid VE PRO 5 is not available anymore.

Your solution is to upgrade VE PRO 5 to VE PRO 6 and add another VE PRO 6 (with 3 additional licenses).

    Best,

  • thanks - this is a very confusing topic. i know others must be doing it.

can you explain how that works or point me to instructions on utilizing more than 3 licenses?

My fear is that by upgrading to 6 now my VEP templates will no longer work the same.  i will have to reconfigure my slave systems. right now i am in the midst of a rather large project and can't afford any nasty suprises if certain tracks have to be re assigned or certain plug ins no longer function. It could take days to rework everything.

Is 6 immediately and directly backwards compatible to the point that my session will opena and all of my slaves will automatically load the correct snapshots as they do now under 5?

    thanks

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay. Yes, VE PRO 6 is fully compatible with VE PRO 5 projects and the transition should be painless. I would not have suggested it otherwise.

    Best,
