  • VI Pro Controls: Need Help

Currently my Controller Sliders in VI Pro are only populated with four basic Controls, Volume, Expression, Velocity X-Fade, and Humanize.

Since there are a total of eight sliders available, I would like to populate the remaining four with what might be most useful for me.

Aside from the barest of descriptions the VI Pro manual gives me little help as to what many of the Controllers actually do. Here are some Controllers that, while I may have a vague idea about their use and effect, I really could use some help understanding them in the context of VI Pro. I know I can Google them, but I can't be sure that what I read is exactly what happens in VI Pro.

Here are the ones on which I'm needed help so as to make the right choice for my remaining sliders:

    Master Attack

    Master Release

    Delay Scaler

    Start Scaler

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. - I do understand that all controls are active even if not assigned to a slider.

  • For me, I use Start, Velocity Xfade, Expression, Slot Xfade, and Legato Blur.  And depending on how much tweeking, you might also consider Humanize and the Filter as well.

Except the Vel X Fade if it is turned off.

  • Thanks jasensmith. Appreciate your extended reply and suggestions. I will benefit from them.

Interesting. I thought legato blur was introduced to VI Pro in order to host Synchron Strings until the Synchron Player was finally released. I guess you're saying it works with VI samples as well. Good to know.

I assume the "Master" in "Master Release" means the value affects the entire instance of VI Pro rather than just one particular Slot.
