  • How to run VE Pro on Virtual Windows and Mac at the same time?

    Hi,the engineers of VSL !

I am a user from China

I have two Vienna Keys . both of them have a VE Pro license.

I have no two computers but I built a Virtual Windows System by Parallels , because there is a Chinese traditional sound library runs only on Windows System.

When a VE Pro Host run on my Virtual Windows System, the otther one on the Mac System can not be opened at the same time, either the Cubase on Mac system.

I must close my Virtual Windows I can use VE Pro,SYNCHRON Player and Cubase.

I am sure I put both two Vienna Keys on my compuper , one for Mac and the other for Virtual Windows.

When the VE Pro Host run on the Windows System , the eLicenser Control Center will take a error message 'Application 'Unknown Application'has caused the following error: ???'

It seems that when a VE Pro Host runs on Virtual Windows System, it will cause the Mac can't read any licenses on an other Vienna Key.

    How to solve this problem?

  • hello Prince Fugue,

since you are running Windows as a virtual machine it is highly probable that your physical USB-port is not linked to this virtual machine. now unfortunately i'm not familiar with the details of Parallels, but i'd assume you had to map the physical USB port for your second ViennaKey on the host to a virtual USB port on the guest.

with a similar situation we are using "USB Redirector" to connect the ViennaKey on the physical machine to a virtual machine, but i'm sure there are dozens of apps out there for such a purpose and i found this in the knowledgebase of parallels: https://kb.parallels.com/en/122993

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hello,

I am glad to get your reply, but please look at my picture.

The eLicenser #4 is linked to virtual Windows, ande the eLicenser #3(an other one) is linked to Mac system, when the virtual Windows runs, the eLicenser Control Center still can read the Vienna Key,but the key‘s name will change to ???. So they still can't run at the same time.

Now if I use the Chinese Instrument Library on Windows, I have to use Logic and I can’t use VSL instrument.

Only I use a singl Mac system ,I can use Cubase and VSL sofware.

  • I don't think you can run programs in both OSX and Windows at the same time on a Mac. Parallels is a poor setup to run. A crutch at best.

What specific library are you talking about? If it runs in something like Kontakt it won't be limited to Windows only. Unless it has it's own engine.

It has it's own engine named Qin Engine and it‘s limited to Windows only,I use some chinese instrument such as Dizi Pipa Guzheng and so on. Now I'll try use VE Pro on single system.
