I might have to give up trying to get VEP to work as I think I have tried everything that I can think of. I've been trying to connect my iMac to a PC running W7 home and after trying to get this working (Including the help of an I.T. } could not get the two to see each other although both computers can see each other. I am thinking that I need to buy a very powerful `mac where I can try to run all my plugins from one place. To say I am very dissapointed is an understatement. I am a musician NOT an I.T Technician. I have watched all the videos pertaining to getting this up and running but it has not worked the way they decribe. Could it be that I am using W7 on my PC. I really need help but there does not seem to be anyone interested, I need " Connecting VEP to a PC and iMac for dummies" Aaaaaaaaaagh

Hi Hart,
it is really hard to say what does not work on your side, because there are many components and all of them must work together.
One of VEP7's new feature is better network discovery, so I my advice is to wait a few days and retry it with v7. If this still doesn't work, more details of your network configuration helps (do you use gigabit LAN on MAC, PC and switch / router? Did you set the IP-addresses correctly according to manual? Is there something exotic about your network?)Best, Ben

Forgive me for askiing but is there any reason why you have to use two machines?
Some people use two, or even three or more, machines and get by just fine but I've always said, as the number of machines in your workflow increase so does the number of potential problems. So unless it's just a personal preference or you're working with gargantuan templates having 3rd party 4th, 5th and upteenth thousand party libraries with over a gazillion samples loaded you could probably get by with just one machine. Maybe just increase the memory if possible.
But I sincerely hope you find a solution to your problems so you can get back to composing.

I have set all network settings as per VEP manual and have gone over the settings a lot of times to check they are right but cannot see where I am going wrong. Twice though I have seen when in my DAW the network of my other computer show up in VEP only to disapear upon rebooting the computer which leaves my further confused.

This is the up to date info regarding this thread:
iMac: Ethernet Status = Connected IP Address = 10.0.0.1 Subnet = 255.255.255.0 (Logic Pro x)
PC: Set to LAN= Network Enabled IP Address = 10.0.0.2 Subnet = 255.255.255.0
No Instances showing in VEP when opened in Logic Pro x
When I try to connect manually by typing 10.0.0.2 and an Instance I already have on thr PC a "Connection Failed" Popup appears

No difference Paul I'm afraid, could I have messed something up in another area of the networking? If so I would suspect it's on the PC side of the setup. I have included a supplimentary screen shot if this is any help. Do I need the network connection "Unidentified Network" for VEP to work ? I have just tried to disconnect but the Ethernet connection was lost

Yes I did start the Standalone version because It was the only one I saw, that is the only one that appeared on the desktop. I thought it would be simple operator error and it was, so thank you and all the rest of the team and forum contributers. My head seems to work in odd ways but at least it is sorted so here's to learing about the VEP Software. I should change my name to Embassed Kevin by Deed Poll! although in my defense I did ask if I did have just the Standalone open which I thought oddbut no-one put me right at the time, oh, if only.
