  • VEP Stand-alone and 3rd Party Network MIDI on Windows

Hello! Trying to find a 3rd party Windows MIDI over Ethernet solution to use with VEP in stand-alone that provides many MIDI ports. I've tried rtpMIDI, but it doesn't show up as a device in Standalone. There used to be software called MIDIOverLan that worked in this way, but it's discontinued and the developer no longer supports it or sells it. Has anyone achieved this in their setup? Thanks!

  • I try with rtp Midi, and my RTP Midi connection is avaible in VEP Standalone...

  • Hi everybody,

Just talked to Tobias Erichsen, the man behind rtpMIDI, and here are a few suggestions when using his program in combination with Microsoft Remote Desktop:

Windows is "virtualizing" all local audio cards of the client INTO the remote computer and doesn't show any audio cards that might be available in the remote computer (same for MIDI Interfaces).

So if that's what we're looking at, please choose the following settings when you start your RDP Session: Under "Local Resources", go to "Configure remote audio settings".
Deactivate the audio card redirection and this should work...

If your master computer is a Mac, you will see a tab called "Devices&Audio" in the connection window that pops up when you start MRD, which contains a combo box called "Play Sound" => set it to "on the remote computer".

    Hope that helps!

    Best,
    Paul
