  • Very fast SSD to replace need for slave?

    Hey guys

I wanted to get your input here. I've upgraded with Thunderbolt 3/SSD drives for my main computer (MBP) which is obviously very very fast. 2300MB/s or thereabouts. Ridiculous.

I've got my slave (Mac Mini, the older one) running a TB2 Rugged Raid, which, although fast, is nowhere near (like 400MB/s).

The MPB has 16MB of RAM

Now, I'm thinking, with the TB3 drive, could I just run VEP on the main computer and skip the slave entirely? Is VEP able to stream off the SSD or does it require to load lots of samples into the RAM still?

I feel a bit behind on what are the best solutions now that SSD can be so crazy fast... Wether to get a new slave at some point, or wether to focus on getting the main computer as fast as I can and run everything on there.

    What do you think?
