  • l’Arabesque by Johann Burgmuller (1806-1874) Opus 100.

    Hi everyone,

Here is my Orchestration of Johann Burgmuller's l’Arabesque. Opus 100.

Any comments on the orchestration are highly appreciated. Thanks for listening.

  • HI,

I really enjoyed that. A thoroughly convincing performance and the overall acoustic of the piece is better (warmer and more intimate) than Perpetuum Mobile on your Soundcloud channel, the core instrument sound is more present .. possibly a more expensive seat in the auditorium...or just a better venue .. !

    : )

If I have a criticism it is minor. I found the single note of the Xylophone in bar 10 and the arrival of the cymbals in bar 11 to be just a little too quiet, so momentarily losing the humour of the xylophone and the energy and power of the arrival of the cymbals and I guess as there's the opportunty to have 'a word' with the percussionist I'd see if they had a lower pitched slighty darker set in their collection.

  • Hello Louis,

Thanks for listning and your comment. I'll make a level of Xylophone up.

<<if they had a lower pitched slighty darker set in their collection.>> Do you mean that a timpani isn't dark?

    Thanks!

  • I meant the Cymbals.

I personaly prefer darker (less high end overtones and splash to the tone)

  • O, I see. I'll follow your instruction. Thanrs Louis!

  • I was expecting something baroque, and what a surprise! Nice work by the way.

  • This is sounds nice.  I don't have any complaints at all.

Was this piece rendered with the SE or full libraries?

BTW I have to commend you and everybody else that performs other composers work with samples.  It's very risky because we are all used to hearing a well known piece performed by a live professional orchestra and when you hear the same piece done with samples the flaws become immediately apparent.  It really tests your MIDIstration skills which you seemed to have mastered here.  I've only recently built up enough courage to try rendering classics with samples.  We'll see how that goes.

    Thank you for posting.

  • Hello Jasensmith and thanks for your kind words.

    1. About SE or Fuul Library: I do not unfortunately have a full libraries.

Used: Orchestra Strings complite, SE Winds and dimension Brass collections.

    2. "It's very risky because we are all used to hearing a well known piece performed by a live professional orchestra"

I have never wonted to reorchestrate wellknown orchestral pieces, rather it's interesting for me to orchestrate  a piano pieces from a music school program where I can unlish my emagination and fantasy. For now I'm  orchestrating  one of I.S.Bach's prelude from WTC  for a srting quartet. I'm very happy.

    Thanks.
