MIR, Vienna Ensemble pro server and Sibelius 7

Dear community,

a week a go I started to prepair my new IMac (before I was dealing with windows). Now everything is installed, the programms do work fine and after a short time I managed also to connect the programms. 

The only problem is, that I can't hear a sound when I enter a note in Sibelius or if I press a key in the vienna instrument player. I suggest it might be the problem that MIR and Sibelius are not able to use the soundcart together. On my Windows pc I was using Asio4Allm and everything was perfect. Because there does not exist Asio4All for Mac, I would kindly ask you for your solutions?

Hello Timo!

It can have different reasons why you don't get  sound. I would follow the signal chain.

Do the MIDI signals from Sibelius reach the instruments in Vienna Ensemble? This can be seen by green blinking LEDs in the channel list.

Do the instruments produce a sound? This can be seen on the meter at the top right of the instruments.

Are the audio signals routed back to Sibelius? This can be seen in the VE mixer when audio signals go out to OUT1/OUT2.

If all this is ok, then you might have set the wrong audio output in Sibelius or there might be a problem with your outboard equipment.

I mentioned now, that the problem ist not a problem of the connection between the two programms. I used to mix my work up with headphones. Infact the real problem is very strange. I can hear sounds from the Mac (e.g. the tutorial videos) over my headphones. But if I'am using vienna ensemble pro 6 the sounds output turns automatically to the mac's boxses and there is no signal on my headphones!

Is there a posibility to determine "the way" of the sound to my headphones (not digital ones)?

The output has to be set up in the host software - in your case Sibelius (Audio Engine Options menu).
