  • MIR icon size

    Hello.

Is there any way to make the MIR icons smaller? I have a ton of instruments in a small space and it's difficult to get a clear view. I know I can hide some of them (not very easy, though, because I don't think you can define groups) but I'd like to be able to resize them.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

there is a button to hide the icons of selected instruments. Maybe this helps?
(You find this button in VE in Mixing-View between the Mute and Solo button, as well as in the list on the left in MIR view or in the instruments setting on the right side)

    Best, Ben

  • Hi Talino,

Re: Size: I understand your request, but please keep in mind that the size of the MIR Icons is not just an abstract thing, but it actually mimics real distances. When you change the stereo width of a source by means of the Icon, you in fact define the distance between left and right signal on the virtual stage.

Re: Groups: Yes, it's a real PITA that Groups are not available in MIR Pro (only in VE Pro). Please send an official  request to support@vsl.co.at, too, because I'm constantly told by VSL software engineers that "nobody needs this, because nobody asks for it". :-P

    TIA and kind regards,

  • Thank you. I know the room properties are physically modeled, stereo width controls look great and sound great, but it would be to be able to declutter things a bit visually. I believe they are modeling signals as coming from a mathematical point in space (as opposed to a volumetic sound source having 3 dimensional properties), so IMHO the size of the central icon itself could be user-adjusted. Alternatively, it can't be that big a deal to add a button which doesn't affect sound at all and says "Display icons at half-size" or something (keeping the stereo width display intact).

    Just my 2c.

  • Great suggestion, Talino. Right now there is little man-power available for adding new features to MIR Pro's code, but I'll put it on the (ever-growing) list of requests.

    Thanks & kind regards,

  • Here's another user that would dearly appreciate a more sophisticated control over grouping, the appearance of groups, and the ability to selectively turn on and off some of the player icon features. With respect to this last, if it were possible to turn off the player width display it would go a long way to reduce the visual clutter when working in a MIR venue that uses a lot of players.

    Best,

    Kenneth.

    +1

There could be an option to only display the source width for the currently selected instrument.

  • Show icon smaller or one icon for a group. These are great ideas!
