Hello !

Auto-Art ? What's for ?

The gigs file can be updated for more articulations with some ".Art" files, but those of you who start to update their vsl files know it consume a lot of time :
Open the gig, wait a few minutes, find the good articulation, load it, save the new gig, and wait a long time. Then, load the next gig.

Auto-Art could perform all these tasks for you in one time

So you save many hours, or even days to update your entire library.

Auto-Art ? How it works ?
It's pretty simple :
- Auto-Art autocheck your Gsedit path, if it's not in the default folder, browse your computer to select it with the "Locate Gsedit" button.
- Choose a location to search for your gig files with the corresponding button.
- Same thing for the art files.
- Click on "Search and compare files name". Auto-Art will search all the files, and compare the gig name with all the art files.
- Auto-Art will show you a list with all the gig file and the corresponding art file. You can uncheck each file to update it or not.
- Finally, press "Execute the list with Gsedit", and let Auto-Art make his work

That's all ! [Big Smile]

More in depth :
Before lauching the update work, you can naviguate to the other tabs where you can find the complete gig and art list, the gig which doesn't match with any art or the art which doesn't match with a gig.
There are two more tags :

- Gig with more than one art
Files are in this list when there are two (or more) matches
for exemple :
violin.gig match with violin_v3a.art and violin_v3b.art
You can check the art you want to be use on the gig.

- Art with more than one gig
Same as above but for the art files
for exemple :
violin_cello.art will match with violin.gig AND cello.gig
These cases are on an "ignore list", you can't check them.

Disclaimer

It's still a beta version, so please make a backup or use a copy of your gig sound before you use it. I can't be responsible for any data loss.

I don't have any product from the Vienna Symphonic Library, it wasn't possible for me to test the script with very big files.

Let me know what you think about Auto-Art and/or if you encounters some bugs at

ENJOY !! [Big Smile]

Just in case :

If you must close Auto-Art, use the tray icon, and send me the file named "report.txt". You can find it in :
\\Documents and settings\\Your user name\\Local settings\\temp\\Auto-Art
My english isn't very good, so if you find some language mistakes in the software, or in the message above too, please let me know.
I will be astonish if you find none

I had an entire 250gb drive die a few weeks back. Of course it was the one with my entire VSL library on it all updated with the new .art files. It took me a solid week to copy everything over from DVD and reapply the .art files one at a time.

Thanks for taking the time to make this utility! It should save many people hours and hours of idle time. Oh, and I made sure to back everything up onto a second drive in case this happens again. =/

You are a saint! Thank you.

How long did it take to create? Hopefully, less time than converting the instruments.

I still haven't tried this, but somehow I suddenly feel happy I still haven't applied the GS3 VSL Pro Ed updates... Many thumbs up to you Stéphane! Cool

I owe a Stephane a big hug for his Auto-Art!

Managed to update my pro-edition in just a long day with his programme. I did it in 5 stages. The only time it hit a problem was with the Tuba legato perf. All the programmes I have tested so far seem fine. I'm so glad I waited.

Bravo Stephane!

Hi !

I'm happy that the software is useful.

Yozzayozza, you said you had a problem with Tuba legato perf, could you explain me where was the problem ? Is it with Auto-Art, or when you try to load the sound ?

Auto Art worked great. It stalled just once on Tuba Legato perf and asked did I want to save the changes. Interestingly, I applied Auto Art to it on its own and it worked fine. It may have just had some dodgy data. Still haven't had a chance to play around too much, but the ten or so patches I have tried are fine.

I hope everyone else has the same success. I think VSL should give you a freebie for such great support of their fantastic product.

Thanks so much! Good karma for sure!!

I'm waiting to apply it for when I'm not in the middle of a job (I try not to do ANY updating in these circumstances) but will chime in on how it works then.

Gratefully yours,
Alison

So, with this bug, Auto-Art wasn't so "automatic" Confused

My sample hard drive crashed. I've been spending last week rebuilding everything. Just want to say that Auto-art worked FLAWLESSLY and saved me gobs of time. Thank you so much for this very useful utility.

Thanks for sticky this topic, and I'm glad Auto-Art is useful !

I've one question : When you save an instrument, you can check "Rearrange wave pool for best fit".
Does anybody know if it's useful to enable this option ?
If it's the case, I could add this possibility in Auto-Art

BTW : I didn't have time to test Auto-Art with Gigastudio 3.12. If Tascam didn't make modifications in Gsedit, it should works correctly.

Stephane.......
I have just set auto art off to load in all the .art files for the Pro Edition. I did it manually for the First Edition and it was a dull and tedious process, to put it mildly (yawn). I've just been in to my studio to check on progress and it's all whirring away nicely after half an hour (still on legato strings!). Thank you so much - instead of staring aimlessly out of the window whiole my computer grinds away, I am going to play some piano while my kids are out of the house (peace....) and maybe even cook dinner for my wife. Your cleverness is doing wonders for marital relations here in London. Great work. Simon

Trying to load the zipped .art files for GS3.1 What is auto art? Is it a program that loads the patches to the correct file. The folders with all of the .art files will not load.

How do I load the .art files in GIGA STUDIO 3.1 so that I can use my MIDI controller for dynamic samples (create accurate bowiing).

PLEASE HELP.

BEST REGARDS,
Benjamin Warren
