  • Unable to connect more than one instances to VEP7

    Hi.

In Cubase 10 Pro I cannot connect to more than one instances.

After loading a new VST VEP the server doesn't appear in the selection.

    Cheers Alex

  • Alex, I encountered the same issue in Logic Pro X. It's a bit awkward but there is a method by which it all works as expected.

It appears we can't add and connect any new VE Pro 7 client plugins if in the DAW there is already one such plugin that has been connected to the VE Pro Server at least once. But it works ok for me if FIRST I insert ALL the VE Pro 7 client plugins I require BEFORE attempting to connect any of them to the server, and then I connect them.

Also, if a client plugin has been connected and then disconnected, client plugins added subsequently to that connection will not list any server instances unless and until the previously connected client plugin is deleted from the DAW.

  • Hi,

Just checked with Cubase 10 Pro on macOS 10.13.6, no such troubles. All servers in my environment are detected, and I can connect to them, and the servers also stay visible.

Of course already connected instances will not show up as available.

Are you running any AV Software or similar?

@alexdetig: Which OS are you running on 192.168.1.17?

    Best,
    Paul

  • I had a similar problem after I deactivated the Apple Bonjour service on my Windows machine.

    Hi,

The Bonjour Service is indeed necessary for the improved connection features.

Here is a video that shows how to activate it if you have manually deactivated it before.

    Best,
    Paul

  • 10.14.3 in both machines.

Everything worked perfect with VEP6 before.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for this workaround.

´But I thinks it's not satisfying to work like this for me, because I always add some new VEP instances working in projects.

VSL has to solve this asap

    Regards Alex

  • We'll look into this asap.

First of all, could you check if you can connect to the server manually, by entering the IP address?

  • It's possible to connect via IP address but I have no choice of instances

Same behavior here with Reason 10 on OSX High Sierra

However it works with Live on the same machine.

Can't be a network thing - otherwise it wouldn' work with other hosts in the same environment.

  • Could you tell me about your network setup?

What machines are on your network, what are their names and IP addresses?

  • iMac Pro and iMac 5K

    Connected via EThernet Hub

    192.168.1.21 and 192.168.1.17

  • Bug located and fixed. New build coming up asap!

  • BETTER WORKAROUND

(Note: I have only one computer, a 5K iMac running MacOS 10.13.6.)

In the DAW I Insert a second VEPro7 client plugin before connecting the first, then I connect them both. After that I can insert more VEPro7 client plugins in the DAW whenever I want; each new insert now shows the list of server instances and can be connected to the VEPro7 server app in the normal way.

I've found this works for Logic 10.4.4, Ableton Live Suite 9.7.7 (VST and AU) and Reason 10.3.

Let's see if this workaround also does the trick across Ethernet LANs.

UPDATE - Well done and thank you Martin!
