  • [Reaper] Vienna Ensemble PRO 7 issue with multiple Event Inputs (SOLVED)

    Hi everyone,

I'm running into an issue when using multiple Event Inputs. Whenever I want to record, I don't get any monitoring going on (in essence I can't hear what I'm playing). First I thought it was something silly that I did, but after hours of trying to understand what's going on, I realized the following:

Whenever I create a new track with the Event Input as a plugin everything works as expected. I can create 16 sub-tracks and record everything fine.

However, when I create more than 1 track (e.g. 2 tracks with each an Event Input), the monitoring completely stops working when recording.

    My specs:
    - Fireface 400
    - Reaper v5.976/64 rev 474f8e (May 2nd 2019)
    - OSX 10.14.4 (2,2GHz Intel Core i7, 32GB RAM)

Any idea what might be going on here or someone experiencing the same issue?

  • I've recorded a small video for better understanding of this behaviour:

  • Quick update on something that I just read from Paul in a different topic:

Since I'm using the VST3 version, there's no need for me to use Event Inputs at all... I thought I was prepared by reading the VEP 6 manual when the launch wasn't official yet. Sorry for any confusion! :-)

One problem that still remains is that there are no instructions on how this routing thing works in Reaper. I can't seem to route anything passed 16 channels. Does anyone have any idea how to route to the multiple MIDI ports that Ensemble Pro plugin exposes?

  • Hi iPiano,

That's a good question for my colleagues at Reaper... Could it be that they implemented VST3 without adding multiple MIDI ports??

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul!

I've figured it out! It's not that difficult once you know what to do :-)

I've added a series of screenshots, so that anyone experiencing the same problems can hopefully figure it out with out too much of a hassle.

    Cheers!
