  • Will Cubase 10 accept 32bit plug ins from vsl ?

Before I try it,thought  might ask. The last version of Cubase I know of that accepts 32bit plugins is v8.5, I believe, but I was wondering if vsl presented these plugins to Cubase in a different mode that would be acceptable to Cubase, or would Cubase 9 (or above) reject them as "normal" 32bit plugins. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • No, Cubase can work just with 32-bit plugins. But the VEP plugin can connect to an 32-bit VEP server instance.

  • Thanks for the quick reply. A little fuzzy-Cubase 8.5 and VEP 7 are working great together with both 32 and 64 bit plug ins. If I go up to Cubase 9 or later, which I already have a license for (which does NOT support 32 bit plug ins anymore), There is no way to use VEP to get the 32 bit plugins to be accepted by Cubase 9 or higher ? (which is why I have stayed with 8.5). Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Bob

  • With VEP7 the support for 32-bit on Mac was dropped, but it still works on Windows.
Just start the VEP Server (32-bit) and connect from the plugin in Cubase (does not matter if plugin is 32 -bit or 64-bit).

Inside the 32-bit VEP Server all 32-bit plugins should work just fine.

  • Thank you VERY much for the advice and help, it's much appreciated.  Went ahead and loaded up Cubase 9-fired up the 32 bit plugs through VEP under the 32 bit version and all works perfectly. So now we can confirm that theory. By the way, Also experiencing very much faster load and unload with VEP as advertised. No glitches or wierd artifacts so far. Have yet to delve into thier included fx, but I don't think I'll be disappointed in that department.  Again, many thanks for your time and effort!  Bob  Extra.  Went ahead and upgraded to Cubase10 while it was on sale.  Again, even better and faster performance on all VEL pro instances.  very low latency with no glitches  (256) even with a dozen vsts running, including 6 chaneels of Sampletank3 and Halion sonic  great.
