  • VEPro 6-7 loading extremely slow SOLVED

    Hey all,

Just bought a new computer and having some serious teething issues after moving everything over from the old machine.  I was coming from a Win 7 machine running VEPro 5.  It was running great and loading a fairly heavy orchestral template in less than 5 mins.  I decided to upgrade everything and it's not running great.  The same template is taking 20 minutes or more if it even loads.  All my drives are SSD. I have tried some batch re-saving to see if that was the issue but it's not making a huge dent.  Any suggestions?  Is it a VEpro thing?  Before I migrated I opened 6 on the machine and it seemed to work fine.  Things that are different are:

    Win 10 vs Win7?,

    VEp Pro 6-7 vs 5?

Anybody have tips when trying to commision a new machine?  This machine should be crazy fast but it feels like I have updated for a serious downgrade.

    Thanks!

It turns out is was WINDOWS 10 antivirus scanning the samples while Kontakt was loading.  I thought it was disabled.  After adding exceptions to all my sample drives and Kontakt file extentions.  Bingo!

    Thanks folks.

  • Hi,

how many instances does the template have? I've heard that templates with hundreds of instances load way longer then previous. If this is the case, reducing the instance count should solve your issue.

  • Hey Ben,

Thanks for the reply.  104.   That could contribute I guess but I did a little testing in my old box with Vepro 6 (opened a few times but that's it) and it seemed fine.

It loads fine until hitting #34 which is where my percussion starts.  Just so I understand #34 coresponds extactly to my 34th instance in Vepro 6 right?

  • Hey Guys,

Seems like it loads sometimes correctly and other times not.  Seems to either work or not in the same location. Channel 34.  Any thoughts of how to trouble shoot this?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Sounds like a loading conflict in the plug-in itself.

To isolate the problem, you could save your instance #34 and experiment which plug-in is causing the hang.

You can also create a process dump when VE PRO hangs, please see the following image on how to create a minidump with process explorer:

    http://cloud.addictivetips.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/create-dump-1.png

Send the process dump to support@vsl.co.at, so we can check for you.

    Best,
    Paul

Well this includes a recommendation for the VEP developers here. ^^ because other software provides a dialogue on install asking if exception rules should be added to the system *hint*. This is a known Windows behavior many developers provide solutions for their software. I can imagine that running VEP as server will even trigger this issue twice: for the samples but also for the localhost connection the server runs on. Humbled over this thread here while I was searching for solutions for our possible issues here in a new facility with newly installed VEP 7 loading and saving extremely slooooow. (10 minutes ++) (read more here about our problem)

That's a great idea, Paul. Late to the party here but it is all about reading between the lines and finding solutions. I will do this for the other issue too. Maybe it makes some things clear.
