  • Did VEPro 7 Break all my routing?!?!?!

    Hi,

I use a one-click solution using metagrid in Cubase, to enable and disable tracks in both Cubase and VE pro. I send Midi CC121 from metagrid to each instrument in order to enable/disable it, and also then enable/disable the track in Cubase. It saves me having to search through all my instruments in VEpro, and is an incredibly important part of my workflow.

This no longer works in VEPro 7. Can I 'upgrade' back to VEPro6 if you've removed this functionality?

I'd be grateful for any help - this is an incredibly frustrating thing to have happened, and (as usual) I'd like to get back to work, rather than messing around with software...

  • OK - I'm testing this a little more. I'm sending CC121 directly from cubase and it works fine, so no functionality removed. Phew!

Now, any ideas on what's causing the logjam between Metagrid and VEPro7? I've changed no routing in my template, and MIDI is being passed all the way through the routing chain (it was working seamlessly within my template until upgrading to VEPro 7).

    Thanks

    Mike

  • Hi MikeC,

You can always roll back to VE Pro 6:

    1) Uninstall VE Pro 7
    2) Install VE Pro 6 again

I'm not accustomed to Metagrid, but can you send us a Cubase song, so we can examine the MIDI information? support@vsl.co.at

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Thanks Paul - after many hours troubleshooting, I think the problem lies somewhere between Cubase and Metagrid - the information isn't getting passed to VEPro, despite all other MIDI information being received. I'll get something properly re-producable before sending anything - there's no sense in you guys chasing after a problem that might not even be in VEpro - what would be useful is to know that VEPro hasn't removed any functionality in terms of CC assignments - not to be overly critical, but the manual is a little 'light' on this section.

    Cheers, Mike

  • Hi Mike,

    Thanks, that sounds good.

No changes in MIDI functionality in VE Pro 7, only the improved Parameter Automation.

    Best,

  • Excellent, thanks for confirming. Parameter automation looks good - I'll have to check it out properly when I get some time.

    Cheers
